Our Lady Queen of Peace & St. Thomas More
A Catholic Community, Alive in Christ

Faith Formation Volunteers

K-5 Catechist/Aide

The work of a catechist is vital to the life of the Church! September to May through weekly classes and by their example, catechists bring children to a fuller understanding of their Catholic faith. Our parish follows the diocesan curriculum guidelines. “Christ our Life” series is used and all teaching materials, supplies and support are provided. No teaching experience is necessary. This is an opportunity for you to care and provide nourishment for our children’s souls and food for their life’s journey. Additional information about Faith Formation may be found here.

Confirmation Aide

The sacrament of Confirmation preparation program is a two year program built on five major themes:

  • Jesus – How he saves & loves us through the sacraments
  • Sacraments of Initiation – Baptism, Confirmation & Eucharist, what they mean & how they apply to our lives!
  • Confirmation Ritual – Exploring the history, signs and symbols of Confirmation
  • The Holy Spirit – The Gifts & Fruits of the Holy Spirit
  • Discipleship – Growing in Faith & Witnessing to Christ

Confirmation candidates and their sponsors meet with the Youth Minister, to study and reflect on the above themes. Confirmation preparation is a two year process that concludes with the Sacrament of Confirmation, usually celebrated in May.
