Reconcile means to come back together in peace. This sacrament shows the children that their actions and words can hurt their relationship with God and with others. They learn to know a loving and merciful God as they ask for forgiveness. The preparation of this sacrament begins the end of September. On a Saturday morning in November the families come together for a penance celebration.
The sacramental preparation involves home and parish sessions. The classes are held during September through November on three Thursday evenings, with additional preparation done at home. The children are instructed by catechists and the Faith Formation Coordinators, while the parents meet with Margaret Ostromecki, Parish Co-Administrator. Because children mature in different ways this celebration should be based on the candidate’s readiness rather than the academic grade level. Sacraments are the heart of our faith journey and preparation is most important
