“Among the many signs and symbols used by the Church to celebrate its faith, music is of preeminent importance. As sacred song united to words it forms a necessary or integral part of the solemn liturgy” (Music in Catholic Worship #23). Music assists the assembled believers to express and share the gift of faith that is within them and to nourish and strengthen their interior commitment of faith. That is why our musicians are so important and all those who offer their gift of music to the community in any way are true ministers in the service of God and God’s people”.
Do you play an instrument?
Do you just want to sing with the voice the Lord has given you?
Consider sharing your gift of music by participating in any or all of the following ways:
Singing out in the assembly
- STM Choir: Leads the community in song at 10:30 Sunday Mass. Rehearsals: Sunday mornings at 9:00am usually from September to May.
- OLQP Choir: Leads the community in song at various Masses from September to May. Rehearsals: select Wednesday evenings at 7:30.
- Contemporary Ensemble at OLQP: Periodically provides contemporary music at a weekend liturgy and for special occasions. Rehearsals: Sunday after 9:30 Mass October to May.
- Cantors: Periodically, members of the community who have the gift of voice, join in leading the assembly.
Were you blessed with the gift of song? Do you feel moved to give God the glory with this unique gift? This is your opportunity to do just that! The choirs of STM & OLQP need YOU!
Please consider joining either the STM or the OLQP choir (or both!). We are in great need of Tenors and Basses in both choirs, but welcome anyone!
