The Liturgical Choir is the principal choir at Saint Thomas More. A semi-professional ensemble, it consists of volunteers and choral scholars who sing at and enrich the 11:00 am mass every Sunday from September – Pentecost Sunday. We sing a variety of repertoire rooted in Catholic tradition, ranging from Gregorian chant all the way to Sacred Music written by contemporary composers.
Rehearsals take place every Sunday in the choral season at 9:30 am in the gathering space at STM. Extra rehearsals may be scheduled in the weeks leading up to significant Holy Days throughout the year. These take place on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm.
The choir is open by audition to those age 16 and older. The ensemble rehearses at a relatively quick pace, so previous choral experience and the ability to read music is recommended. If you are interested in joining the choir, please contact Adam Chlebek at [email protected] to schedule an audition.
Looking for an opportunity to share your musical talent? Be a part of the music ministry at OLQP! Through music, come to know God in a deeper way, share your God-given gifts with our community, enhance your musicianship, and create community! Let God work through you and the power of music to transform hearts.
We have a choir, along with instrumentalists who enhance Mass with music throughout the year. Typically, you will find us every other week at the 9am Mass on Sundays. Our rehearsals are on the Sundays our group isn’t at Mass from 10:15am-11:45am. Everyone age 12 or older are welcome.
We also have a handbell choir at OLQP that plays at a few Masses throughout the year. This began during the pandemic and we look forward to continuing this group this year!
You may join and participate as much as you can. There may be times of the year you are unable to commit, I just ask that you let me know in advance so I can plan accordingly.
Please contact Meghan Kellogg at [email protected] or 244-3010 x 107 if you are hoping to participate in music ministry anytime at OLQP this year!
