After dinner we will explore:
Reclaiming our Interconnectedness as Humans: Exploring the Communion of Saints
It's November, a month where we celebrate All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day! As we grow in searching for our own identity throughout our lives, our experiences and relationships with others certainly influence how we view ourselves. We don’t become ourselves in a vacuum, for no person is an island. Certainly the pandemic has challenged what community looks like, and sometimes our access to communal life. Sometimes we decide it's just easier to face our struggles alone. What we can forget is that we are never truly alone, but are surrounded by and bound to all those who have entered into Eternal Life and those alive on this earth. There is an interconnectedness that is more present to us than we realize. This is what it means to be a part of the Communion of Saints.
Some questions for reflection:
How do I understand loneliness? How do I understand solitude? How can I exchange loneliness for solitude?
How do I still have a relationship with those who have gone before me to Eternal Life?
How can I become more aware of knowing I am part of the communion of saints, in essence, my interconnectedness to all of creation? Am I even aware of this at all? How can this help me in times of suffering?
